The main objective of this survey was to provide an accurate and detailed representation of the current state of the quarry to facilitate its redevelopment. The main deliverables included:
- A digital terrain model (DTM) of the entire area.
- A detailed map identifying existing works and infrastructure.
- Two-dimensional cross-sections and a 3D site plan.
These deliverables allow the client to plan future interventions with confidence without requiring additional data collection.
Methodology:
To achieve the project objectives within the established timeframe, an integrated approach combining multiple technologies and methodologies was used. This approach ensured comprehensive data acquisition, accuracy and efficiency. With guaranteed coverage of large areas with minimal manual intervention. It also eliminated the need for separate or repeated surveys.
Technologies and tools used:
- LIDAR sensor mounted on a drone for the collection of topographic and photogrammetric data.
- Mobile mapping with laser scanner for the detailed profiling of critical areas. Riegl VZ600I laser scanner.
- Definition of the survey boundaries and control points established via GNSS. Geomax Zenith 60 GNNS antenna
Integration of multiple data sources via specialized software to generate results.
- DTM: Processing by software capable of handling large LIDAR datasets.
- Orthophotos and maps: Produced from RGB images.
- 3D models and cross sections: Extracted from the unified point cloud data.
Quality assurance:
- Output cross-referenced with GNSS control points for accuracy validation.
